In March 2024, The https://www.uhuruinstitute.org/’s https://coop360network.com/ launched the inaugural Coop360 Innovations Award, a groundbreaking initiative designed to recognize and celebrate the most innovative cooperatives in Uganda, with the aim of boosting their competitiveness and resilience.
During the competition, Mengya Integrated Farmers Cooperative Society Limited emerged as the overall winner, showcasing two outstanding innovations:
1. A gravitational irrigation system that operates entirely without external energy, harnessing the natural slope of the mountain to provide sustainable water supply—an adaptive solution to the challenges of climate change.
2. High-quality Irish potato seed multiplication, aimed at improving food security, productivity, and income for member farmers.
